On Love and Non-Violence

I discovered that I have always associated power with violence. A statement stood out: “For the world to be peaceful, non-violent people must be powerful. If I believe in non-violence, I must learn to resist violence in all its forms through Creativity and Compassion. It takes an immense amount of skillfulness and inner capacity to be able to do that.

I can approach others with ahimsa when I am not caught up in my gains and losses. When I can engage the world from a space of silence, I approach the day-to-day issues and challenges from an expansive, longer-term and generous perspective.

When I choose simple observation over impulsive reactivity, I get in touch with the Law of Love. When I consider the other person’s perspective instead of defending my own, I can widen my horizon to include others in my worldview and accept the world as a friendly place.
